Baby Blanket

Wow, I finally finished the receiving blanket I've been working on for Baby. It took a little more time than I thought it would but man it was well worth it. In fact, it turned out better than I thought it would. The time consuming part for me was cutting the two pieces of material to match up and then sewing them together. I was using a sewing machine from church that I swear was made in 1980. I'm sure it wasn't but it was lame all the same. Of course my Mother had to show me how to do the edging while I was home a couple weeks ago but she never did get to show me how to make the shells - that she had to explain to me over the phone and I think it turned out well. I would have finished it sooner but for some reason now in my pregnancy my hands go numb for no reason so after I'd make a handful of shells around the edges I'd have to take a break to get the feeling back in my fingers. Apparently it's normal but I'm sick of waking up in the middle of the night with my right arm numb and aching and me unable to go back to sleep for over an hour every time but that is a whole nother post in itself. Back to the blanket... I've posted a handful of pictures so you can get the idea of how it looks. A couple of the pics are the front and back of the blanket and the others are closeups on the edging I crocheted. And yes that is my GIANT LoveSac being used as the backdrop.

Update

Ever since we got back from our trip out West I've started babysitting for a family in our ward. They have 6 kids so you might think that at 9 months pregnant what was I thinking... Don't worry I've asked myself that question too but really these kids are good. Ages are 15, 8, 5, twin 2 yr olds, and an 8 month old. The 15 yr old has been at a few camps and youth conference so he hasn't been around much and the 8 and 5 yr old are a big help. It also helps that both the baby and the twins sleep for about 3 plus hours in the afternoon. I must do a good job at wearing them out in the morning or something. The poor parents, I bet those kids don't sleep very well for them at night... And yes, I am planning on continuing to watch these kids after Baby Kirk makes its arrival at the end of the month (but with a couple weeks off at least) and by then the three older will be in school so I might even be able to squeeze in a nap for myself when ALL the kids are sleeping.

Avery on the other hand is still working crazy hours but somehow has managed to go golfing 2 times last week. Working 6 days a week I guess he deserves a few hours off during the day to play. He's also brought it upon himself to go househunting for us. He does the hard work of searching and then shopping with the realitor. All I have to do is drive up and check out the good ones. We did make an offer on a house a week or so ago but now have changed our minds regarding that one and backed out. We're really in no hurry and with the market being a "buyers market" right now we can pick and choose a little.
